This Is Lorelei, the solo moniker of Water from Your Eyes’ Nate Amos, has announced a “Super Deluxe” version of the album Box for Buddy, Box for Star, and released its first preview, Power Snatch’s reworking of “Perfect Hand.” Listen to the new track below.
Box for Buddy, Box for Star (Super Deluxe) is out on April 17th via Double Double Whammy. The new edition of This Is Lorelei’s 2024 debut consists of reimaginings and collaborations from artists including Power Snatch, Tim Heidecker, Waxahatchee, Sasami, Jeff Tweedy, and Snail Mail.
Power Snatch is the recently announced new musical collaboration between Paramore’s Hayley Williams and her Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party producer/instrumentalist Daniel James. Their cover of “Perfect Hand” is a glitchy, percussive, heavy reimagining that features This Is Lorelei himself, with Williams’ whispering vocals guiding you through the first half. Around the halfway point, her volume rises, her tone softens, and the goosebumps flow effortlessly.
James has shared a statement explaining that the cover of “Perfect Hand” actually led to the creation of Power Snatch. “We’ve both been fans of Nate’s for a long time, and loved getting to rework one of our favorite This Is Lorelei songs,” he said. “His natural way with lyrics and melodies made it easy to translate the song to a different place for this project. It also happened to be the song that started Power Snatch.”
This Is Lorelei added that “getting to hear Hayley and Dan’s beautiful take on ‘Perfect Hand’ for the first time was surreal, getting to contribute vocals was even more so. Couldn’t be more stoked for this to exist.”
