In our wildest edition of Mixtapes! yet, GWAR’s Blöthar the Berserker puts together an incredible playlist based on our most ridiculous prompts.
We knew when we booked GWAR front-scumdog Blöthar the Berserker for our latest episodes of Mixtapes! we were in for some wild answers and a crazy playlist. Well, we certainly got what we bargained for (honestly, you should see what we had to leave on the cutting room floor…). From soundtracking Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s first dance, to rallying in support of NPR, to going to war with the HOA, the leader of GWAR shows off a love for classic rock staples and deep cut nonsense. Watch him make his playlist above (or via YouTube), and listen to the full thing via Spotify.
We’ll get right too the juicy one here: Blöthar has a particular thought process on the Swift-Kelce marriage. He seems to think the pop icon might be too good for the football star, and anticipates the wedding might be the beginning of the end. “He’s gonna cheat on here, I mean it’s gonna happen,” he says. “And then he’s gonna see her out with another guy. Probably another football player — actually, another basketball player, that would really hurt. And he’ll say, ‘Hello darlin’, it’s nice to see you.'” Yes, Conway Twitty’s “Hello Darlin'” would be his choice for the soon-to-be-unhappy-couple’s first dance.
Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin'” appears twice (when time traveling back to give his young self advice or when going on a spectral moon moose hunt), while Boston’s “Amanda” would be his cover song of choice for an NPR pledge drive (a cause close to Blöthar’s heart). Then, there are some pretty wacky deep cuts, like Sheb Wooley’s children’s classic “The Purple People Eater” for the annoyance of self-checkout lines, and Gershon Kingsley’s “Popcorn” for a monkey stealing your cotton candy at the zoo.
Yeah, it gets pretty coo-coo crazy in here, so check out GWAR’s Blöthar the Berserker’s playlist — which also includes R.E.M., Foreigner, Wilson Pickett, and Sheb Wooley (!!) — by watching Mixtapes! above or via YouTube. Then, listen to it all via the Spotify playlist below.
