James Gunn’s Superman delivered the message that kindness is punk rock. Milly Alcock’s Supergirl, meanwhile, is just punk rock embodied. The new trailer for DC Studios’ Supergirl reveals how Superman’s hard-partying cousin Kara Zor-El handles an adventure of her own — all to save her loyal companion, Krypto the Superdog.
The trailer opens with Supergirl receiving a inter-stellar Zoom call from her cousin, Superman (David Corenswet). Seems Kal-El is worried Kara is drifting — and she is, roaming the spaceways looking for good times and a stiff drink, with Krpyto as her only family. But when a gang of Brigands, space pirates led by Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts, in a massive redesign from the comics), steal her breakfast, her ship, and poison Krypto, Kara has three days to save the pup.
She teams with a young girl named Ruthye (Eve Ridley), whose parents were murdered by the Brigands, to track down the ruthless villains. Along the way, the cross paths with the baddest fraggin bastich in the galaxy, Lobo (Jason Momoa), who at various points in the preview appears to be fighting against and alongside our hero.
