Lex Legion, the new band featuring four classic ’80s King Diamond members behind the albums “Them” and Conspiracy, have unveiled their debut single, “Sleep Eternally.”
The song matches their initial description of the band aptly. The song is, as Lex Legion stated, less progressive in its material than the King Diamond work they produced, but still familiar. The track possesses a driving and straightforward set of verses, a wide open and gothic chorus, and a sudden 6/8 groove for the solos that feels right out of those classic King Diamond albums.
Singer Nils K. Rue, the only member of the band who was not in King Diamond, sounds right at home with classic members Andy LaRoque, Mikkey Dee, Pete Blakk and Hal Patino. He is able to emulate well those screeching King Diamond high vocals that are so iconic while having a tenor voice that is powerful and straightforward. The strength of this song bodes well for the project as a whole.
Their second single “Gypsy Tears” is currently slated to arrive in May, while an album is tentatively expected to be released in June. Lex Legion are expected to tour next year.
