Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, known professionally as The Weeknd, is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and actor born on February 16th, 1990, in Toronto, Ontario. He first gained recognition with his 2011 mixtape House of Balloons, which showcased his unique blend of atmospheric R&B and dark, introspective lyrics.
